The Preacher of Ecclesiastes, no stranger to the limits of knowledge, names exactly this texture: "Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things." That is the consistent signature of an inexhaustible Maker: the order is real and readable — enough for a mind to trace it — and yet unfathomable, opening past every explanation into the activity of the God "who does all things." We read the pattern truly, and find the reading has not exhausted it.
There's a quiet temptation in the examined adult life to treat a good explanation as a finished one — to feel that once you can describe the rule behind something, you've exhausted it, and may set your wonder down and move on. The fractal in your own chest gently refuses that. Here is a pattern clear enough to draw and to calculate, and the closer science looks, the more it opens — into the unsolved question of how bodies grow such near-optimal branching, into contested scaling laws that hold across all of life for reasons we don't fully grasp, into the deep unanswered why of order itself. Let that reshape how you hold what you think you've settled — about the world, about Scripture, about the people you've known for decades, about God. The God whose simplest patterns branch into endless depth has not been exhausted by anything you've understood about Him. As Ecclesiastes says, you "cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things" — and that is not a wall but an invitation. The branching in your lungs, drawing breath at this very moment, is a true order you can read and a deeper one that keeps outrunning your reach. The right response to such a Maker is not the satisfaction of a closed case but the worship of someone standing, gladly, before what is still opening.
