The Amazing Thing in Your Head
Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?
Job 38:36 (NLT)
Right now, inside your head, there is one of the most amazing things in the whole known universe. It's not on a faraway planet or at the bottom of the ocean. It's tucked safely inside your skull, and it's called your brain.
Your brain lets you do almost everything wonderful you can think of. It lets you think. It lets you remember — your favorite day, your best friend's name, the way home. It lets you imagine things that aren't even there yet, like a castle made of clouds. It lets you love the people in your family. And it lets you wonder — like wondering about your own brain right now! And here's the surprising part: your brain is only about as big as your two fists put together. Something that small, doing all of that! Scientists have looked all over, and they've never found anything else quite like it anywhere.
The Bible asks a question: "Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?" The answer is God. God is the One who designed that amazing thing inside your head and tucked it there on purpose — so you could think and remember and imagine and love and wonder. He gave you a mind. Nobody else in the whole universe has a brain exactly like yours.
Every time you have a happy thought, or remember someone you love, or dream up something brand new, your wonderful brain is at work — a gift God designed just for you. He made you to think and to wonder.
Prayer
Thank You, God, for the amazing brain You tucked inside my head — one of the most wonderful things in the whole universe. Thank You that it lets me think and remember and imagine and love and wonder, even about my own brain! You gave me a mind, on purpose, because You love me. Your wisdom is endless. Amen.
